Richmond, "That he served about eight months of the nine months for which he enlisted and his brother, Anthony Corey, supplied his place for the remained of the term of enlistment". Also, enlisted in the summer of 1777 as a volunteer at Coventry, Kent County, RI, and served on short tours one month each as Fifer, under Captain William Roy, Lieutenant Kinion; also, under Captains Asa Bennett, Langford Weaver and Whitemarsh; also, 20 days in Col. Archibald Kassin's Regiment; also, 20 days under Captain William Roy, Col. Archibald Kassin; was in General Sullivan's Rhode Island Expedition and in the battle; all above service as Fifer in RI (1). Also, in March 1789 he enlisted at Shaftsbury, Bennington County VT, and served as a Private and Fifer under Captain James Sawyer, Major Ebenezer Allen in the Vermont Rangers, length of service not stated (2). Also, in the spring of 1781 he enlisted at Coventry, Kent County RI , Fifer ,and served 1 month under Captain Asa Bennett, 1 month under Captain Whitmarsh, 1 month under Captain Calvin, Col Kit Oweney, 1 month under Captain Allen Johnson, 1 month under Captain Pierce (1). James was born on 30 October 1761 at Coventry, Kent County RI (3), and died 7 January 1848 (4) at Madrid (5) Saint Lawrence County NY (4,5), the son of Anthony Corey (3). He married Mercy Lyon on 7 October 1792 in Kent County RI. (6). James Corey was a resident in Madrid, Saint Lawrence County, NY at the time the 1820 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated there, with 5 residents in the household (7). According to the 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY, James Corey was a resident with two residents in his household (8). The description of James Corey in the 1835 Pension Roll, Rank: Private, Age: 71, Born: ca. 1760, Enrollment date: 4 March 1831, Residence: St. Lawrence , New York, Service: Rhode Island Continental (9). James Covey was a resident of Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY, at the time the 1840 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated there with 2 residents in his household; he was employed in agriculture, born ca. 1762, age 78 years, Veteran (10).
It is not known where James and his wife Mercy were buried in St. Lawrence County NY. No records of their graves exist.

Webb, 6 months;  also, 1779, 2 months, Captain Chapman, Col. Beebe; also, 1780, 2 months, substituted for Peter Thorpe, under Captain Mitchell, Col. Enfield (1).  He was born 12 (4) May (1,4), 1762 (7) /1763 (1)/ 1764 (4,11) at Winsted, Litchfield County CT, and died 24 March (4)1846 (2,4) in Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY (4) , the son of Samuel (1,4,6) and Prudence Hinman (4,6) Hurlburt (1,4,6). Abiram married first, Miss Sarah Clark ca. 1785; she was born 17 August 1762, at New Milford,  Litchfield County CT, and died 2 or 5 November 1798 (4). He married second, Miss Polly (4)/Mary (8) Barrett (4), who was born 13 September 1779 (4), and died 24 December 1851 (4,8) in Madrid NY, aged 74 yrs (8). Abiram and Mary are buried at Old Madrid Cemetery, Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY (8).  Abiram Hurlbut was a resident of Charlotte, Chittenden County VT in 1810, according to the U. S. Federal Census (9). At the time the 1820 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY,  Abiram Hurbert (sic) was a resident with 7 members in his household (10). The Pension Roll of 1835, Saint Lawrence County NY, read,  Abiram Hurlburt, Private, Service Description, Connecticut Militia, Enrollment date, 23 October 1833, age 69 (7). According to the 1840 U. S. Federal Census, Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY, Abiram Hurlbut was born ca. 1764, age 76, 2 residents in his home, Military Service: Veteran (11). Abiram Hurlburt is listed on the DAR Patriot Index as A060968. A notation suggests that documents submitted on him no longer meet today's genealogical standards and that further research is necessary. The sources cited above should satisfy that requirement.
No other photos exist for the grave of Abiram Hurlburt, but he is buried beside his second wife Mary Barrett in the Old Madrid Cemetery in Madrid NY.  His tombstone is broken and has fallen on the ground in pieces.  Photos for the grave of Mary Barrett Hurlburt appear on Anne Cady and on FAG # 30978407. Abiram Hurlburt also has a memorial on FAG, 174778458.

Stearns Massachusetts Regiment (1).  He was born  ca. 1756 , and died 7 January 1840 in Saint Lawrence County NY (1).  He married Olive, maiden name unknown, who was born ca. 1754 .  According to the Ledgers of Payments for Pensioners, John Fuller 2nd was a Sergeant, and the last payment date was recorded as February 1840 (2).  The 1810 U. S. Federal Census, Canton,  Saint Lawrence County NY, listed John Fuller as a resident with 6 household members (3). At the time the 1830 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated in Canton, Saint Lawrence County NY, John Fuller was a resident, with 2 members in his household. John Fuller, residence date 1835, residence place, Saint Lawrence, NY, War pensioner (5).

On 5 March 1782 James Lincoln, Jr., and on 30 September 1786 Rhoda Lincoln, were  born at Keene, Cheshire County, NH to James and Rhoda Lincoln (6). According to the  Pension Roll of 1835, James Lincoln, Private, Massachusetts Line, Age 80, transferred from Chittenden County, Vt , and died 21 (sic)  December 1832 (7). At the time the 1830 U. S. The Pension Roll of 1835 of Saint Lawrence County NY, listed Caleb Matteson as serving in the Massachusetts Line, placed on the Pension Roll 8 June 1820, applied for pension 28 April 1818, age 61 (5). According to one record, Caleb Matteson may have deserted on 5 May, year not given, and therefore proving his service to a Revolutionary War lineage society may be difficult. However, he does not mention desertion in his pension application and his pension application was approved.

Hayes (1).   He was born ca. 1759  (1) in NY (10), and died 2 May 1855 at Morristown, Saint Lawrence County NY (1,3). The death notice in the St. Lawrence Republican, 15 May, 1855, read, Died, in Morristown, on Wednesday, May 2nd., Benjamin Salts, a Revolutionary Soldier, in the 93rd year of his life (3).  According to an SAR application, he was buried in the Wright Family Cemetery which was located on land owned by his son-in-law Timothy Wright in the Town of Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence County NY (4).  He married first Margaret Seelye, the daughter of Augustus Seelye (4);  and  second, Jane (Templeton) Bloss on  25 December 1840 at Morristown, Saint Lawrence County NY (1).  Jane married  first David Bloss (1).  She was born ca. 1781 in  NY (10)/NH (11), and died 17 February 1865 (1,5) in Saint Lawrence County NY (1); the last pension payment  to Jane Salts was recorded in September 1864 (6). The U.S. Pension Roll of 1835 listed on the statement of the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, Benjamin Salts, Private, New York Militia, placed on the pension roll 20 December 1833,  enrollment date, 4 March 1831, age 72 (7). According to the 1840 U. S. Federal Census, Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence County NY, Benjamin Salts was a resident, born ca. 1762, age, 79, (8), Veteran (9).  At the time the 1850 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated in Morristown, Saint Lawrence County NY, Dwelling #174, Family #174, Benjamin Sault (sic) age 87, farmer,  born in NY,  Jane Sault, age 64, born NY, Joseph Bloss, age 38, Farmer, born NY, Lucy Bloss, age 25, born NY, Jane Bloss, age 10, Polly Bloss, age 8, Daniel Bloss, age 5, James Bloss,  age 9 months;  children were all born in NY (10). The 1860 U. S. Federal Census, Morristown, Saint Lawrence County NY, listed at Dwelling #33, Family #33, Joseph Bloss, age 48, Mason & Farmer, born NY, Jane, age, 19, Polly, age 16, David, age 15, James, age 10, John, age 7, Henry, age 5, Jane Salts, age 79, born RI (sic); all children have the surname Bloss, and were born in NY (11).

According to Wright family history records Benjamin Salts is buried in the Wright Family Cemetery.  This cemetery is located at present-day 4684 NY State Highway 37, Ogdensburg NY  13669, just past the Stone Church Road.  However, the cemetery was dismantled years ago.  The legible stones there were salvaged and are now kept in the barn on the property.  Those headstones have been pieced together and photographed, but Benjamin Salts is not among them.  Among those photographed were Margaret Salts Wright, daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Seelye Salts, and James Wright, son of Timothy and Margaret Salts Wright.  On an 1858 map of the area in the Town of Oswegatchie this property was owned by Benjamin Wright, the son of Timothy and Margaret Salts Wright, and grandson of Benjamin Salts.

Christian was discharged from service at Snake Hill near Newburgh, Orange County NY (1). He was engaged at the Battles of Monmouth, at the taking of Cornwallis at Yorktown, and several small skirmishes (1). He was born ca. 1744 (1,4), and died in 1829, aged 93 years, at Saint Lawrence County NY (1). At the time he applied for his pension on 20 June 1818, he was residing in the home of his son-in-law, name not given, at Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY (1). According to the Pension Roll of 1835, Christian Wallasie or Walisee was a Private, New York Line, placed on the pension roll 7 April 1819, Commencement of pension 20 June 1818, age 76 (4).
It is not known where Christian Wallasie is buried.

Hull; also, return of men raised in Essex County for continental service, agreeable to resolve of 2 December 1780; engaged 5 March 1781; engaged for town of Beverly, term, 3 years; also, return dated 20 June 1781, made by the Selectmen, of bounties paid said Goolden and others by the town of Beverly, and the several classes and inhabitants of said town, to serve in the Continental Army for the term of 3 years or during the war, agreeable to resolve 2 December 1780 (1,2).  He was born 1761 (1),  baptized 12 July 1761 at Newbury, Essex County MA (3), and died 6 January 1840  in Saint Lawrence County NY (1,4 ), the son of Windsor and Jane Sampson Golden (5).  He married first, name unknown; he married second, Ruby/Rubie Ferris on 22 February 1801 (1).  She was born ca. 1762 in VT (12), and married first, Ezra Ferris (6). On 24 September 1785 taxpayers of New Chester, Grafton County NH, signed a petition to tax the land of non-residents;  Winsor Goolden was among those residents who signed (7).  The 1790 U. S. Federal Census, New Chester, Grafton County NH listed Windsor Golden with 4 members in his household (8).  At the time the 1810 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY, there were 8 residents in the home of Windsor Golden (9).  According to the 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Madrid, Saint Lawrence County NY, Winser, sic, Golden , age 70 thru 79, was residing there with 5 members in his household (10).  Listed on the 1835 Pension Roll of Saint Lawrence County NY, Windsor Golden, Private, Massachusetts Line, placed on pension roll 15 October 1818, commencement of pension 6 April 1818, age, 72 (11). Ruby Gauldin, sic, was age 88, born ca. 1762 in VT, at the time the 1850 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Dwelling #9, Family #9, Bakersfield, Franklin County VT, and was listed as a resident in the home of her son Roderick L. Ferris (1,6), age, 63,  born NY, Louise Ferris, 56, born VT (12).
It is not known where Winsor Goolden is buried.

Christina was baptized in 1760  (4),  the daughter of  Peter and Anna Herkimer Ten Broek, sic, (6). He applied for a pension, 9 October 1832, while residing at Danube, Herkimer County N Y, but the claim was not allowed, as it was not proved that he served six months as required.  According to the 1820 U. S. Federal Census, Danube, Herkimer County NY,  Peter P. Bellinger was a resident on 7 August 1820, with 13 members in his household (8).  The 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Danube, Herkimer County NY, listed Peter P. Bellinger as a resident with 7 members in his household, 1 male 70 thru 79, 1 male 30 thru 39,1 female 40 thru 49, 4 members under age 20 (9). At the time the 1850 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence County NY,  Peter B. (sic) Bellinger, age 90, born ca. 1760,  was residing with his son Peter P. Bellinger (1,7) at Dwelling #893, Family # 924;  other members of the household included, Peter P. Bellinger, age 63, Farmer,  Catherine Bellinger, age 63, Jacob H. Bellinger, age 34, Helen G. He married Millicent (7,9) /Millecent (8) Bridge on 16 March 1782 at Shutesbury,  Franklin County MA (7,8,9).  She was born 14 May 1761 at Spencer, Worcester County MA (8,9) , and died 23 October (7) 1849 (4,7), in Saint Lawrence County NY (4), AE. 87 yrs. (7), the daughter of Thomas and Mary (8) Harrington (9) Bridge (8,9).  According to the pension records, Milicent, widow of Joshua Conkey, Drummer,  received her final pension payment in March 1849 (4).  Joshua and Millicent Conkey were residents of Shoreham, Addison County VT, before removing to Saint Lawrence County NY (2). The 1820 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated on 7 August 1820, Canton, Saint Lawrence County NY; Joshua Conkey was a resident with 5 members in his household (10).  At the time the 1830 U. S. Ephraim Matthews



Photo not available Photos of the graves of Private Ephraim Matthews, DAR Patriot Index # A212442, and his second wife, Sarah Page, in the Brick Chapel Cemetery in Canton NY.  According to documents submitted to the DAR, Ephraim was born 28 June 1757 in Boxford, Essex County MA, and died 1813 in the Town of Canton, St. Lawrence County NY.  However, his gravestone says he was 62 years old when he died in 1813.  The engraving on Sarah’s gravestone says she died 9 December 1822, age 62.  Sarah Page was born 1759 in Nottingham, Rockingham County NH and married Ephraim Matthews in 1782 in Hudson, Hillsborough County NH.  One document indicates Ephraim was previously married to Lydia Peabody and they had one child together. Ephraim resided in Boxford, Essex County MA and later in Cheshire County NH during the war.  He served in MA as a Private under Capt. Jacob Gould, Col. Can you imagine how interesting and helpful this data base would have been to those of us who, in years past, have seemingly "looked under every stone" in search of the very information that this group has so precisely put in one convenient file!
