Ezra Smith

Ezra Smith was born on 13 January 1764 at Sudbury, Massachusetts and died 22 February 1834 at Ellisburg, Jefferson, New York. He served for MA as a private for 8 months in Captain Nixon's company, Colonel Pierce's regiment in 1775. In January 1776 he lisited or 1 year as a corporal in Captain Minot's company marching to NY. He enlisted for 3 months in 1777 and guarded the prisoners taken at the surrender of General Burgoyne. Total service of 23 months.
Upon his fathers death, his son, Henry Smith, applied for a pension due the Ezra's children. Pension W27569 was allowed in 1834 to Henry, Reuben, Jesse and Ezra Smith; Rebecca Sergent, wife of John Sergeant; Ruth Seldon, wife of Abram Sheldon; and Lucretia Osgood, wife of John Osgood.
Ezra married Phebe Walcott 12 January 1779 at Bolton, Middlesex, MA. Phebe was born 1 December 1758 at Marlborough, Middlesex, MA and died 22 June 1833 at Ellisburg, Jefferson, NY. Ezra an Phebe are buried in Saxe cemetery, Ellisburg, Jefferson, NY.

Peter Doxtater

Peter Doxstater/Doxtater was born 25 December 1751 at German Flats, Herkimer, New York and died 1 December 1842 at Adams, Jefferson, NY. He served for NY as a private and scout for about 2 years under Captain Henry Harter and Colonels Frederick and Peter Bellinger. He received pension S23199 for his service. His pension record indicates the service was served in many small tours amounting to 2 to 3 years. He participated in the battles of Oriskany and German Flats.
He married first Elizabeth Cunningham, 1752-1829, 2nd Susannah, 1772-28 April 1835, and 3rd Innocent Hurlbut but this marriage is not proven. Peter, Elizabeth and Susannah Doxstater are buried in Adams Rural cemetery, Adams, NY.

John Merriam

John Merriam was born 21 January 1756 at Barre, Massachusetts and died 14 December 1843 Adams, Jefferson, New York. He served for 3 years as a private in Captain Benjamin Gates company Colonel Rufus Putnam's 5th Mass. Regiment. He was at the taking of Burgoyne. John was discharged 12 April 1780 in New York state. He applied for pension 22 May 1818 and received pension S42972 for his service.
He married first Mary Baker and second Gratia Ashley. Gratia was born 24 October 1771 at Walpole, MA and died 19 December 1819. John and Gratia are buried in Adams Rural cemetery, Adams, Jefferson, NY.

Ammial Penny/Penney

Ammiel Penney was born 18 July 1746 at Westchester county, New York and died 16 February 1816 a Lorraine, Jefferson, NY. He served for NY as a private in Captain Joseph Dyckman's company, Colonel John Field's 3rd regiment, Dutchess County Militia.
He married Hannah Haviland, 1744- 12 November 1827, in 1776. Ammiel and Hannah are buried in Adams Rural cemetery, Adams, Jefferson, NY.

Preserved Redway

Preserved Redway was born 14 July 1764 at Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts and died 25 April 1827 at Ellisburg, Jefferson, New York. He enlisted at Killingly, CT in July 1780 and served to 1 January 1781 as a private in Captain Robert Warner's company, Colonel Wylly's regiment of the Connecticut line. Preserved reenlisted in the same units in February 1781, serving till 31 December 1783. On 14 August 1838, Azubah applied for pension and was awarded pension W18796.
He married Azubah Jones on 29 June 1789 at Somers, Tolland, CT. Azubah was born at CT in the year 1770. She died in Ellisburg on New Years Day 1853. Preserved and Azubah are buried in Adams Rural cemetery, Adams, Jefferson, NY.

Edward Salsbury

Edward Salisbury was born 6 September 1733 a Gloucester, Rhode Island and died 29 March at 1829 at Adams, Jefferson, New York. He served for RI as a minute man. Edward also served in the French and Indian wars.
He married Abigail. She was born 9 August 1736 at Gloucester, RI. Edwrd is buried in Adams Rural cemetery, Adams, NY.

Jacob Weaver

Jacob Weaver was born 17 March 1760 at German Flats, Herkimer, New York and died 9 March 1852 at Adams, Jefferson, NY. During the revolution, he lived at the blockhouse Fort Dayton with his family. He enlisted at the beginning of the revolution and served at various time amounting to two or three years as a private in the NY State Militia, under Lieutenant Peter Weaver and Captain Henry Harter in regiments commanded by Colonels Frederick and Peer Bellinger's. He served protecting the Mohawk valley from Tories and Indians. Jacob was at the battles of German Flats and West Canada creek.
On 2 June 1781, at Herkimer, NY, Jacob married Margaret Boom. She was born 22 April 1763. On 1 April 1853 Margaret applied for pension and received pension W25951. Jacob and Margaret are buried in Adams Rural, Adams, Jefferson, NY

Westwood Wright

Westwood Wright was born 20 April 1757 at Deerfield, Massachusetts and died 9 April 1826 at Adams, Jefferson, New York.He responded to to the Lexington Alarm in Captain Smith's company of MA militia.
On 31 May 1775, Westwood married Sarah Billings. Sarah was born 1 June 1751 at Hatfield, MA and died 23 September 1835 at Adams, NY. Westwood and Sarah are buried in Adams Rural Cemetery, Adams, Jefferson, NY.

Timothy Brewster

Timothy Brewster was born 12 September 1759 at Norwich, New London, Connecticut and died 8 June 1848 at Ellisburg, Jefferson, New York. He served for Massachusetts as a private in Captain Peter Porter's company, Colonel Samuel Brewer's regiment. In 1776 he went to Ticonderoga and helped build a fort nearby. His pension application, R1190V was rejected for lack of proof of service.
He married Temperance Andrus on 5 Juky 1781. She was born 29 October 1757 at Pawlet, VT. and died at Ellisburg, NY on 17 December 1831. Timothy and Temperance are buried in Brewster cemetery, Ellisburg, Jefferson, NY.

Jonathan Fish

Jonathan Fish was born 12 September 1757 at Dighton, Massachusetts and died 29 June 1841 at Ellisburg, Jefferson, New York. In 1775 he enlisted as a private in Captain James Briggs' company, Colonel Brewer's MA regiment. On 1 January 1776 he enlisted in Captain Benjamin Pierce's company, Colonel Babcock's RI regiment. While serving there, he volunteered to serve on board the row galley “Spitfire” and assisted in capturing a sloop and brig laden with provisions. From June 1776 he served in Captain Simeon Martin's company, Colonel Lippitt's RI regiment. Jonathan applied for pension 11 September 1832 while living in Ellisburg and it was allowed.
He married Lillas Mason on 18 November,1781 at Cheshire, MA. She was born in 20 December 1765 at Warren, MA and died 21 March 1848 at Ellisburg, NY. Lillas was allowed pension W21115 on her application executed 27 July 1843 while living in Ellisburg. Jonathan and Lillas are buried in Brewster cemetery, Jefferson, NY.
