Henry Burt



Photo not available Henry (1)/Henery (2) Burt (1, 2), a Revolutionary War Patriot of  Lake George, Warren County, NY, served as a Private for NY.  He enlisted in May 1779 for 10 months, with the Continental Troops under Lieutenant Danning, and Col. Seth Warner (1, 2).  He was born in 1760 and died on 25 February 1829 at Louisville, Saint Lawrence County, NY (1).  He married Susannah Brown on 4/6 September 1780 at Little White Creek, Washington County, formerly Albany County, NY (1).  She was born on 28 February 1761, the daughter of William Brown (1). At the time the 1800 U.S. Federal Census was enumerated at Clarendon, Rutland County, VT, Henry Burt was a resident, with 5 members in his household (4).  According to the 1820 U.S. Federal Census for Louisville, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Henry Burt was a resident on 7 August 1820, engaged in agriculture, and the household consisted of 2 members (5).

Lebeus Johnson



Photo not available Lebeus (1,2,8)/Libeus (1,4,7,)/Libbeus (5)/Libbous (6) Johnson , Revolutionary War Patriot of Suffield, Hartford County, CT, enlisted at Suffield, Hartford County, CT , 1 year in 1776, MA, Private, under Captain Nathan Peters, Col. William Shepherd (1). He was engaged in the  Battles of Frogs Point, and the Battle of Trenton (1). He was born ca. 1758 at Colchester, New London County, CT (1), and was baptized  there at the  Colchester First Congregational Church on 11 April 1762 by Rev. Ephraim Little (2). The last date recorded for a pension payment was September 1822, year range, 1818-1832 (4). He was the son of Elisha and Elizabeth Hopson Johnson (3). The name of his wife is unknown. At the time the 1790 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Rutland, Rutland County, VT, Libbeus Johnson was a resident with 7 members in his household (5). According to the 1800 U. S. Federal Census, Rutland , Rutland County, VT, Libbous  Johnson was a resident with 7 males and 4 female residents in his household (6). A son Lebeus Johnson was born on 12 April 1783 at Rutland, Rutland County, VT, to Lebeus Johnson (7). On 9 January 1821 he was a resident of Russell, Saint Lawrence County, NY, age 61 years , "I have no family residing with me" (1). The 1835 Pension Roll , Saint Lawrence County, NY recorded Libeus Johnson as a Private, age at time of enrollment in 1818,  63 years, born ca. 1755, pension enrollment date, 13 April 1818, residence, Saint Lawrence County, service description, Massachusetts line (8).
It is not known where Lebeus and his wife are buried and no stones or photos have been found for them.

Calvin Smith, 6th. regiment, also, Captain Heywood, 4th company, Col. Tupper, 6th. regiment; muster rolls for December 1782, January, March and April 1783; balance of term of enlistment unexpired, 12 months 19 days; also order dated Garrison at West Point, 8 December 1783, for wages for the year 1782 for service in the 4th. company, 6th. Massachusetts Regiment (1,2).  He was born 10 April 1759 at Norwich, Hampshire County, MA (2) , the last pension payment  was made in March 1847 (3). He was the the son of John Gilmore "who bound him out at an early age to William Mitchell, a farmer residing in the town of Glasglow in the said state of Massachusetts" (2). John was married (2), the name of wife is unknown. John Gillmore was a resident of Russell, Saint Lawrence County, NY, at the time the 1840 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated there, age, 87 years, Pensioner (4,5).  
It is not known where John and his wife are buried and no stones or photos have been found for them.

He was born on 18 November 1754 Brookfield, Worcester County, MA (2), and baptized on 19 January 1755 at Spencer, Worcester County, MA (3). He died in 1837 in Saint Lawrence County, NY (4), the son of Abner (2, 3) and Martha Daniel (3) Rice (2, 3, 5). At the time the 1800 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Reading, Windsor County, VT, Abner Rice was a resident with 6 members in his household (6). According to the 1810 U. S. Federal Census, Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Abner Rice was a resident with 3 members in his household (7). The U. S. Pension Roll of 1835, listed Abner Rice with the Rank of Private, Age, 78, Born, ca 1763, Pension Enrollment Date, 4 March 1831, Residence, Saint Lawrence County, New York, Service Description, and Vermont Militia (8). On 5 September 1832, Abner Rice stated that he was a resident of Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY (1).
It is not known where Abner is buried and no stone or photos have been found for him.

Nathan was born 1 March 1758 in Spencer, Worcester County, MA, and was baptized there on 14 June 1761 (3).  He died 19 February 1855 at Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY (4, 5), age 98 years (4), the son of Nathaniel and Susanna Permiter (sic) (3). He married Darcas (6)/Dorcas (7) Aikens (6, 7) on 19 July 1781 at Barnard, Windsor County, VT (6). Dorcus was born 3 March 1763 at Harwick, Worcester County, MA (7), and died before 23 February 1836 (5), the daughter of Solomon and Dorcas Whitcomb Aikens (7). The 1800 U. S. Federal Census, Barnard, Windsor County, VT, listed Nathan Parmeter as a resident with 11 household members (8). At the time the 1840 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Nathan Parmeter, was a resident, age 81 years, born ca. 1759, with 5 residents in the home (9), Veteran (10).  According to the 1850 U. S. Federal Census, Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Nathan Parmeter was residing in his home at Dwelling #208, Family #228, age 91 years, Farmer, born in MA, Value of real estate owned $1200.00, Nancy Parmeter, age 52 years, born in VT, Norman Murray, age 21, Farmer, born in NY.

Fletcher.  In 1782, he volunteered at the close of the war, under Captain Packard (1, 2).  He was born ca. 1759 (9, 10), and his last pension payment was made in March 1851 (3, 4).  The name of his wife is unknown.  Wm. Burrows was a resident of Crown Point, Essex County, NY in 1810 with 12 household members (5).  At the time the  1820 and 1830 U. S. Federal Censuses  were enumerated at Crown Point, Essex County, NY, William Burrows (6) /Burows (7) was a resident with 5 members in his household (6,7).  According to the 1840 U. S. Federal Census for Stockholm, Saint Lawrence County, NY, William Burrows was a resident, born ca. 1753, age 87 (8) and William Burrows born ca. 1759, age 81 years, military service, Veteran (9). William Burrows, age 81, resident of Stockholm, Saint Lawrence County, NY, is listed in the Census of Pensioners on 1 June 1840 (10).

Photo not available Esek Whipple,  Revolutionary War Patriot of Glocester, formerly Gloucester, Providence County, RI, Mariner, Navy, 3 Years, enlisted at Bedford, Middlesex County,  MA, 1777,  aboard the sloop Providence, under Captain John Peck Rathbone, also enlisted March 1778, RI, on board the Providence frigate under Commander Abraham Whipple, "where I continued in the said Service on board the said ship and other ships under various commanders in the naval service of the United States, until I was taken prisoner by the British at Charleston, South Carolina from on board the ship called the Queen of France commanded by John Peck Rathburn (1,2)." Esek was born 3 June 1761 in RI, and  died  21 December 1833 at Dekalb, Saint Lawrence County, NY (2), the son of  Benajah (6) and Tabitha, maiden name unknown, Whipple (3,4,6). He married Maribe (3)/Maribah (4) Sprague (3,4)  on 3 January 1788 at Glocester, Providence County, RI, the daughter of Jeremiah Sprague (3). According to the U. S. Revolutionary War Pension Record, Esek Whipple, Mariner,  last pension payment  September 1832 (5). The 1820 and 1830 U. S. Federal Census enumerated at De Kalb, sic, Saint Lawrence County, NY, listed Esek Whipple as a resident,  with 2 residents in his household  (7,8)
It is not known where Esek and his wife are buried and no stones or photos have been found for them.

Oliver Bowers



Photo not available Oliver Bowers, Revolutionary War Patriot of Chelmsford, Middlesex County, MA, Private, MA, 1 March 1776, Enlisted 1 year, under Captain John Nutting, Col. William Prescott, and was discharged in January 1777 (1). He was engaged in the Battle of Harlem Heights (1). Oliver was born 25 November 1754 at Chelmsford, Middlesex County, MA (2), and died 7 January 1835 in Saint Lawrence County, NY (3), the son of Oliver and Esther Bowers (2). He married Hannah, maiden name unknown, who was born in 1761(1). At the time the 1800 and 1810 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Danville, Caledonia County, VT, Oliver Bowers was a resident with 4 members in his household (4,5). According to the 1820 U. S. Federal Census, Danville, Caledonia County, VT, Oliver Bowers was a resident, 8 household members, with 3 persons engaged in Agriculture (6). At the time his deposition was taken for pension purposes on 29 December 1827, Oliver Bowers statement read in part, " my name was placed on the Pension Roll of the State of Vermont from whence he had lately removed, and that he was now residing in the Town of Parishville in the aforesaid County of Saint Lawrence and State of New York where he intends to remain, and that he and his wife being old and infirm wish to reside near their son" (1). The 1835 Pension Roll listed Oliver Bowers as a Private, age 79, pension enrollment date, 24 September 1819, residence place, Lawrence , NY, service description, CT line (sic) (7).
It is not known where Oliver and his wife are buried, and there has been no stone or photos found of them.

Gamaliel Bradford; mustered 10 April 1777; term 3 years; reported also mustered by Continental Muster Master. Nathan was born ca.1760, and died 23 November (3) 1840 (3, 5) in Saint Lawrence County, NY (3). He married Jemima (1, 3)/Polly (4), maiden name unknown, who was born ca. 1766 (1). At the time the 1840 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated in the town of Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Nathan Estabrook was a resident born ca. 1760, age 80, Veteran (6) and was residing in the home of his son-in-law Joel Higley (3,7).
It is not known where Nathan or his wife are buried and there is no stone or photo.

He married Lucy Cross in 1780 at Northfield, Merrimack County, NH, she was born ca. 1761 (1). The final pension payment to Lucy Moore was made in March 1848 (3). The 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, listed John Moore as a resident with 4 members in his household (4). He engaged in the Battles at Stillwater, Monmouth and Newport (1). He was born ca. 1759 (4), NH (9), and died in 1851 at Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence County, NY, executor John Cartwright (5). In the application for a pension dated 7 April 1818, David Bradley states " my family consists of my wife Diana aged forty five years and two children belonging to my wife, Waitstele Stanton aged thirteen years and Lewis Stanton aged eleven neither of whom are able to support themselves" (1). A claim by Bathsheba Bradley as the wife of David Bradley was rejected (6). In 1830 David Bradley was residing in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, NY (1,7), 2 residents in the household, 1 male 70 thru 79, 1 female 50 thru 59, 1830 U. S. Federal Census (1,7). S Federal Census, Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Dwelling #39, Family #39, David Bradley, a resident, age 90, born NH, and residing with the family of John and Elizabeth Cartwright (10). The 1840 Census of Pensioners listed David Bradley, age 81, resident of Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence County, NY, and head of his household (11).

He was born ca. 1759, and died in 1843 in Saint Lawrence County, NY, his last pension payment was September 1843 (3, 4). The name of his wife is unknown, she was born ca. 1780 (1). At the time the 1820 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Louisville, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Dyer Williams was a resident with 8 household members (5). According to the 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Potsdam, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Dyer Williams had 9 persons in his household (6). Stephen Prouty



Photo not available Stephen Prouty was a Revolutionary War Patriot of Spencer, Worcester County, MA (1, 2), serving as a Private for Massachusetts.  He enlisted in February or March 1782 (2), for 3 years (1, 2,) under Captain John Mills, and Col Joseph Vose (2).  A receipt dated Worcester, 25 June 1782, for bounty paid said Prouty by Captain Joseph White, Chairman of Class No. 5 of the town of Spencer, to serve in the Continental Army for the term of 3 years (1).  He was born ca. 1767 and died on 17 September 1830 in Saint Lawrence County, NY (2).  On his pension application 20 June 1820, he listed his family residing with him as: my wife aged 48 years, Liberty Prouty my oldest son, Caleb aged 10, William aged 7 (2).  The application for pension transfer from VT to NY was made on 5 September 1828, and at that time he gave the reason for removing to NY was to live with his two sons (2).  He married Judith Divol(3)/Divoll (4) on 1 March 1792 at Swanzey, Cheshire County, NH (3).  Judith was born 22 November 1770 at Leominster, Worcester County, MA (4), and died on 14 (6)/16 (5) December 1856 (5, 6) at Lafayette, Medina County, OH, and was buried there in Spitzer Cemetery (5), the daughter of William and Mary Divoll (4).  According to the pension records, Judith Prouty, widow of Stephen Prouty, was receiving pension payments at Pittsburgh, PA, and in September 1851 the payments were forwarded to Cleveland, OH.  The date of her death is recorded on the pension record there as died 14 December 1856 (6).  According to the U. S. Federal Census, Stephen Prouty was a resident of Newfane, Windham County, VT on 7 August 1820, with 5 members in his household, 2 members engaged in Agriculture (7).  At the time the 1830 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Louisville, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Stephen Prouty had 6 household members: 3 members under 20 years, 1 member 15 thru 19, 1 female 50 thru 59, 1 male 60 thru 69 (8).  Judith Prouty was residing in the home of her son William D. Prouty (2) at the time the 1850 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Lafayette, Medina County, OH, Dwelling #432, Family #443, William D. Prouty (2), 35, Farmer, born VT, Lydia D. Prouty, 34, born VT, Chester Prouty, 13, born VT, Latha C. Prouty, 12, born VT, Judith Prouty, 77, born MA (9).

John Trask



Photo not available John Trask was a Revolutionary War Patriot of Woburn, Middlesex County, MA, (1, 3, 4).  He served as a Private for Massachusetts, 2nd. Worcester Company, under Captain Allen, and Col. Edward Wigglesworth, and also under Captain Noah Allen and Col. Calvin Smith.  Continental Army pay accounts was provided for service from 5 March 1777 to 1 April 1778, residence Woburn.  He was reported discharged 1 April 1778, and his place was taken by Michael Owen to whom bounty was paid.  John Trask also served in Captain Noah Allen company, Col. Edward Wigglesworth regiment; return, year not given; mustered by Col. Barrett.  Also, with the same company and regiment; a muster roll for March 1778, dated Valley Forge; reported on furlough.  He was also among those named from Woburn on a descriptive list of men raised from 3rd. Middlesex County regiment to reinforce the Continental Army for the term of 9 months, agreeable to resolve 20 April 1778, as returned by E. Brooks, Superintendent.  He served under Captain Walker and Col. Fox.  His description was: age, 28 years; stature, 5 ft. 9 in.; residence Woburn; engaged for town of Woburn; arrived at Fishkill 27 July 1778 (1, 3).  He was engaged in the Battles of Bemis Heights and the taking of Burgoyne at Saratoga (3).  John Trask stated in his pension application "my brother Jonathan Trask who was a waiter to General Gates, and now resides in Boston (2, 3, 4)." John Trask was born ca. 1750 (1)/1752 (6)/1755 (3), and died in Saint Lawrence County, NY.  The final pension payment to John Trask was recorded in September 1822 (5).  On the 10th day of October 1821, John Trask was a resident of Massena, Saint Lawrence County, NY, and his statement read in part, he has neither wife or children living with him, that his wife died about eleven years ago, and he has four children now living according to the best information he can get, one in Quebec, two in the State of Vermont, and one in the State of New York, all of whom are daughters (3). According to the Pension Roll of 1835, John Trask, Rank, Private, Description of Service: Massachusetts Line, placed on pension roll, 8 October 1819, commencement of pension, 1 September 1819, Age, 67 (6).

He was also enlisted 1 February 1781 for 3 years.  Recruited in Sheldon's Dragoons, Artillery, 1777-1783, under Captain Ayer, Col. Sheldon (1, 2). Engaged in Battle of Monmouth (1). Joseph was born in ca.  1767 (7, 10, 12) in Wilington, Windham County, CT (1), and died on 24 (1, 5) December 1845 (1, 5, 7) at Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence County, NY (1) Aged 78 yrs (7). He was known as a farmer at 5’ 6’’ with dark hair, eyes and complexion. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Hannawa Falls, Saint Lawrence County, NY (7). He married Fanny Mathews in the spring of 1792 at Woodstock, Windsor County, VT (1).  She was born 13 (1)/19 (3) March 1772 at Hartland,  Windsor County, VT (3), and died 3 February 1852 (4,6,7) at Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence County, NY (4) in her 80 yr. (7) , The daughter of Joel and Abigail Mathews (3).  Fanny was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Hannawa Falls, Saint Lawrence County, NY (7).  According to the History of St. Lawrence Co., New York, "Joseph Dimick, a soldier of the Revolution, came to reside with his son about 1820, and died there, aged about seventy-six (9) ." At the time the 1820 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated at Barnard, Windsor County, VT, Joseph Dimick was a resident with 8 members in his household (8).  According to the 1830 U. S. Federal Census, Pierpont, sic, Saint Lawrence County, NY, Joseph Dimick was listed as a male, age 60 thru 69, with 4 residents in his home (10). On 31 August 1832, Joseph Dimick was appointed Postmaster at East Pierrepont, sic, Saint Lawrence County, NY, and served there until 15 October 1842 (11). The 1840 U. S. Federal Census, listed Joseph Dimick , Birth Year: ca. 1767, Age: 73, Veteran , Home: Pierrepont, Saint Lawrence Co., NY (12);  with 4 members in his household 1 male, 70 thru 79, 1 female, 60 thru 69, 1 female 30 thru 39, 1 male, 20 thru 29, 1 resident employed in Agriculture (13). Joseph Dimick is listed on the DAR Patriot Index as A032216. A notation suggests that documents on him no longer meet today's genealogical standards and that further research is necessary. Elijah was born 12 (5) May 1758 (2, 5) at Bridgewater, Plymouth County, MA (2, 5), and died on 26 July 1845 in Saint Lawrence County, NY, aged 87 yrs. (7). William Lee



Photo not available William Lee, Revolutionary War Patriot of Lyndeborough, Hillsborough County NH , enlisted in the fall of 1776, Fifer, NH Militia, 1st. Regiment, served under Captain Amos Emerson, Col. Joseph Cilley, and was at the capture of Burgoyne (1). He was discharged in the spring of 1777 at the time his father William Lee, a Lieutenant in Captain Amos Emerson's Company, also resigned his commission and returned home (2). Also, in 1778 served under Captain Bell , Col. Joseph Cilley (1,2). William was born ca. 1765 in Milton, Norfolk County MA (2), and died 6 September 1843 in Saint Lawrence County NY (3), the son of William (2,4) and Hannah (4) Lee (2,4). He married Lucy who was born ca. 1769, maiden name not known (2). According to the 1820 U. S. Federal Census in Hague (later known as Morristown), Saint Lawrence County NY, William Lee was a resident on 7 August 1820 with 7 members in his home (5). William was age 74, (6.7) Pensioner (7), and head of his household of 3 residents at the time the 1840 U. S. Federal Census was enumerated in Morristown, Saint Lawrence County NY (6,7).
The exact location of William Lee’s grave is not known although some family members believe it is on a nearby farm. This monument was erected by a descendant on the property of the Macomb Town Hall and Museum. The Town of Macomb was created in 1841 from parts of the Towns of Gouverneur and Morristown.
In a ceremony on 22 April 2017 this memorial monument was marked by Lynda Wells Andrews, Nihanawate Chapter NSDAR.
